Getting Started with Stockora
Welcome! ๐ Stockora runs completely in your web browser - there is nothing to install. Tech Bato hosts everything, keeps it updated, and keeps your data safe. You just log in and run your shop.
This guide takes you from your first login to your first sale. Most shops finish in under an hour.
Before you begin
When your Stockora account is created, Tech Bato sends you:
- Your Stockora link - open it in any browser (computer, tablet, or phone)
- Your login email and password

Step 1 - Log in and secure your account
- Open your Stockora link and log in with the email and password we sent.
- Click your name (top-right) โ Profile โ set your own strong password.
Step 2 - Choose your language
Click the เคจเฅเคชเคพเคฒเฅ / EN button in the top-right corner any time. The whole app switches between English and Nepali instantly. Your products, customers, and notes always stay exactly as you typed them.
Step 3 - Check your business details
Your business profile (name, address, PAN/VAT number) is printed on every invoice. It was set up from the details you gave us - if anything needs changing (or you want a different invoice prefix or Default Tax %), tell us, or your account admin can edit it under Administration โ Businesses.
- Default Tax % - e.g.
13for VAT. Every new invoice line pre-fills this rate; you can change it per line or set it to0.
Step 4 - Make product categories
Inventory โ Categories โ New Category - a few broad groups are enough: e.g. Cement, Steel Rod, Paint, Tools.
Step 5 - Add your products (the important one)
Inventory โ Products โ New Product for each item you sell:

| Name, SKU | Item name and a short unique code (e.g. CEM-OPC) |
| Category, Unit | Pick a category; unit like bag, kg, pcs, litre |
| Cost Price | What YOU pay to buy it |
| Sale Price | What the customer pays you |
| Opening Stock | Count what's on your shelf right now and enter it - your starting stock |
| Reorder Level | When stock falls to this number, Stockora shows a red low-stock alert |
๐ก Opening Stock is the only stock number you will ever type by hand. After this, every purchase, sale, and return updates stock automatically - Stockora counts for you.
Step 6 - Add customers and suppliers
- Parties โ Customers โ New Customer - name, phone, and Opening Balance = money that customer already owes you from before Stockora (0 if nothing).
- Parties โ Suppliers โ New Supplier - same idea; Opening Balance = money you already owe them.
You don't need to add walk-in cash customers - a sale can be made without selecting any customer.
Step 7 - Add your staff (optional)
- Administration โ Designations - job titles like Cashier, Store Keeper.
- Administration โ Roles & Permissions - tick exactly what each role may do (or use the ready-made Admin / Manager / Staff roles).
- Administration โ Users โ New User - create each staff member's login with a role and designation.
A cashier will then see only the menus you allowed - nothing else. Every action is logged with who did it.
Step 8 - Record your first transactions
- Buy & Sell โ Purchases โ New Purchase - enter stock you buy from suppliers. Inventory rises automatically, and any unpaid amount is tracked as due.
- Buy & Sell โ Sales โ New Sale - bill your customers. Inventory falls, profit is tracked, and a PDF invoice is one click away.
- Money โ Customer Receipts / Supplier Vouchers - record payments against due bills.
That's it - from now on the Dashboard, Ledgers, Cash Book, Accounting, and Reports fill themselves.
First-Week Checklist
- Password changed from the one we sent you
- Language set to your preference
- Business details and Default Tax % confirmed
- All shelf items entered with correct opening stock
- Customers/suppliers entered with correct opening balances
- Staff accounts created with the right roles
- First real purchase and sale recorded
- Dashboard numbers look right (today's sales, stock alerts)
Common Questions
Do I need to install anything or take backups? No. Stockora is fully hosted and backed up by Tech Bato. Open your link, log in, work.
Can I use it on my phone? Yes - the whole app works in a mobile browser. Tap the โฐ button for the menu.
I can't see a menu item. Your role doesn't have that permission. Your admin can change it under Administration โ Roles & Permissions.
I entered wrong opening stock. Edit the product and correct the Opening Stock, or record an Adjustment under Inventory โ Stock.
I forgot my password. Use "Forgot your password?" on the login page, or ask your admin / Tech Bato support to reset it.
